About Me

I am a senior in high school, as well as a four year member of the Jackson Academy for Global Studies.

I chose this capstone because I wanted to do something that included both of the ideas of helping my community and doing something that I am passionate about. Knowing that I am going to be studying fashion as a career, I thought that by allowing myself to design and make shirts to get my message across, it would also allow me to grow as not only a more global aware citizen, but also grow as a designer since I personally designed, made, and promoted my merchandise. I would definitely say that my capstone means a lot to me because I had the opportunity to spread my views about women’s rights - a topic that I feel very passionate towards. I am also very proud of my work because I have inspired other young women to share their views and voices as well. I have also had people come up to me and congratulate me for taking a stand on a topic I feel passionate about.

I plan on incorporating JAGS into my future plans by continuing to be a women’s rights activist, and participating in marches. I am also going to continue to use my talents to benefit the community and inspire others. JAGS is part of what has shaped me into who I am today. Freshman year, I would have never had the courage to do something like my capstone. I have learned to grow more empathetic, and JAGS has taught me that I am a leader as well. Being a leader doesn't mean you need to have a title - it means that you can lead others by example.
